" I am alive today because of the excellent work of the paramedic and driver from Aspen EMS. On April 3, I was being transported by EMS ambulance from AVH ER to St. Mary’s in Grand Junction to have a pace maker put in when my heart stopped on I-70 outside of Rifle. The paramedic applied shock treatment to restart my heart. They rushed me to Palisade where St. Mary’s MediVac helicopter picked me up and delivered me to the operating room. They saved my life.
I can’t say enough about the EMS people and St. Mary’s. I am under the care of my cardiologist Dr. Gordon Gerson.

"The sound of ringing bicycle bells will increasingly replace ambulance sirens during Fort Collins events this summer as Poudre Valley EMS gears up its Bicycle Emergency Response Team.
A fleet of mountain bikes is equipped with the same supplies ambulances use in the first few minutes of an incident, from bandages to auto-defibrillators. And bikes are able to go places the large ambulance trucks can’t reach.
Poudre Valley EMS started using bikes for reserves in 1994, but the team, known by its acronym, BERT, didn’t form or begin regular event patrols until last year. Rob Collett, lead BERT paramedic, said because Fort Collins is rated one of the top bicycle-friendly communities in the United States, managers decided the team could better serve the community on bikes...." SandBox Comments: Steamboat Today "Flight for Life adds a Learjet"
"People who spy a brightly painted jet on the tarmac at Craig-Moffat Airport in Craig or Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden might wonder about the wealthy person with flamboyant taste who painted a private aircraft the color of a tangerine.
But what they are seeing is the Learjet 35 that was just added to the fleet of Flight for Life Colorado in mid-January.
The orange jet with its yellow stripe matches the color scheme on the turboprop airplane and helicopters that already fly into the Yampa Valley as part of the Flight for Life air ambulance service.
Flight for Life Colorado Director Kathy Mayer said the Cessna King Air 200 turboprop airplane operated by Mayo Aviation in Englewood would remain her agency’s primary fixed-wing aircraft. But the Learjet was added to provide better service on flights longer than 400 miles from Centennial Airport south of Denver.
Flight for Life Colorado routinely serves cities in Montana, for example. The jet will back up the King Air on shorter flights, but it won’t come to Steamboat Springs Airport because of the short runway...."
