"There are plenty of headwinds right here at home, too. The president castigates congressional Republicans for blocking his potentially game-changing proposals to give tax breaks to businesses that hire and to provide mortgage refinancing for underwater homeowners. And in the last couple weeks, Obama proclaimed, “The big challenge we have in our economy right now is state and local government hiring has been going in the wrong direction.”
Here's a tip for the president. At this point, the majority of American voters don't care who is to blame for the current crisis. They are demanding solutions. Such solutions will be founded on free markets and private enterprise, not government control.
If Obama is intent on convincing Americans that he is powerless to foster the circumstances for economic recovery, why would we give him a second term?
The November election is looming closer, and voters are already waving goodbye to the president. Who will Obama blame for that? It'll be a tough decision......" (Read more? Click title)

Employment prospects for college graduates are dim. Many newly educated young people are deciding that elections are about the economy, not platitudes and promises.
One out of every two college graduates under the age of 25 is jobless or underemployed. That amounts to about 1.5 million people with bachelor's degrees. Some have moved back in with their parents. Others are scraping by on low wage jobs while sending out scores of resumes to no avail.

"Throughout the United States, government and quasi-government bodies are chipping away at private property rights. This is exemplified in western Colorado by property acquisitions of the Roaring Fork Transit Authority (RFTA) to build new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations. The town of Basalt and city of Glenwood Springs endorsed RFTA's tactic of condemning private parcels within their municipal limits to advance the $46.2 million BRT project.
In the Glenwood Springs instance, RFTA claimed that a strict deadline attached to a $25 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration meant a competing private use proposed for the property needed to be quickly quashed.
Through their support, the message from local leaders is loud and clear: It's more important to help RFTA spend taxpayer dollars than secure the rights of private property owners.
The founders of our nation believed the right of citizens to acquire and possess property is as unalienable as the right to free speech. Thomas Jefferson declared, “All power is inherent in the people. … They are entitled to freedom of person, freedom of religion, freedom of property, and freedom of press.”
Secure private property rights are a cornerstone of economic growth and sustainability in a free market economy. Our government is responsible for upholding laws, contracts, patents and copyrights to protect private property owners from infringement by others, including government itself...."

"...As far as President Obama is concerned, power is fortified by a welfare state full of indentured voting blocks. Taxpaying Americans end up holding the dirty end of the stick.
The U.S. national debt has surpassed $15.4 trillion. That's over $136,000 per taxpayer. Yet, the Obama budget comprises unfunded entitlements, endless deficits with undefined payment terms, and immense tax increases on the entrepreneurial class.
President Obama claims his administration is making “very difficult choices.” He proclaimed, “Every department will feel the impact of these reductions as they cut programs or tighten their belts.” We are told his plan will cut the deficit by $4 trillion over the next decade. Yeah, right!
Did you know that $2 trillion of the president's claimed deficit reduction measures were already enacted into law under the Budget Control Act of 2011? They can't be counted again in fiscal year 2013. Besides, Mr. Obama is not even responsible for these measures. Tea Party Republicans forced those spending cuts on the president last year as conditions to approve the debt ceiling increase he wanted.
Another $1 trillion of Mr. Obama's so-called savings comes from winding down the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But these funds were never requested or authorized. It's like a minimum wage worker declaring, “I'm not going to buy a Lamborghini next year, so I'm cutting spending by $400,000.”..."

SandBox Comments: Glenwood Springs Post Independent "Iran will go nuclear without U.S. strength and leadership"

"...Short of a military strike, what can the U.S. do about Iran? We could start by assisting the rebels in Syria. With Bashar Assad in power, that nation is a key regional ally for Iran. That's why Iranian forces are aiding Syrian troops in their campaign against rebel forces. Overthrowing Assad and promoting a new opposition government would intensify Iran's isolation and demonstrate that America will not tolerate rogue regimes.
But it's not likely the Obama administration will act decisively with regard to Syria. Earlier this month, Russia and China opposed U.N. initiatives to remove Assad. Aiding the rebels would probably provoke a response from Russia.
It's like a standoff before a gunfight in the old American West. Russia and China are waiting to see if the United States will draw. So far, our government is backing down from a confrontation.
Out of answers, the Obama administration is assembling a group of “like-minded” nations led by Arab governments to coordinate a strategy against Assad. We're not even leading this wishy-washy endeavor. Iran's nuclear ambitions will remain unchecked.
This is a time in history when American strength is imperative. Military might, and the willingness to use it if necessary, is the only deterrent to rogue nations and their allies. The ancient Romans used to say, “If you want peace, prepare for war.” Once Iran goes nuclear, there will likely be no peace..."
