SandBox Comments: KJCT News 8 "Western Slope Cow Gives Birth to Rare Triplets"

"MONTROSE, Colo. -- Some are calling it a miracle, a Western Slope cow gave birth to triplets. The rare event happens only one time in 8 million births. Our cameras got a look at these new calves just hours after they were born.
Not even a day old, these three are still a little shaky on their feet, but eager for mom's milk.
Kim Lechleiter, the owner of the calves, says, “It's really a historical deal to have triplets.”
Lechleiter has been raising Simmental cows since 1977.
“Out of all the years of calving, I’ve never had a set of triplets,” he said...."

SandBox Comments: Pueblo Chieftain "Case raises criticism of DA's office "
What about the accused, David Carrillo? And the alleged victim?
That seems to be a question that's been completely lost in the war going on down in the 10th Judicial District.
There are a couple of judicial districts in Colorado that have heated battles stirring in the races for District Attorney.
In the eyes of voters in commentary, there couldn't be a more opportune time than 2012.
There is little doubt anywhere that a conservative will win the Presidential Election. And that there will be major uprooting in Washington, D.C.
The folks are fed up. Had a belly full and just not going to take it anymore. On the other hand, not one of these politicians schmoozing for our votes right now are looking ahead at how the states are going to handle having what they want dumped right in their laps.
What's going to happen when the State of Colorado has all the handling of education, human services and immigration placed into their hands and out of the hands of the feds?
For a long time, the folks have been hollering that they think politics should be removed from anything that is tied to their physical safety and security. Primarily, the offices of Sheriff and District Attorney. That Judges should be the only ones needing to receive a nod from the folks.
There could not be a better example of outrageous government conduct than Democrat Bill Thiebaut. He's the 10th's current D.A. and recently rose up in public scrutiny over his involvement in congressional redistricting issues. This is a public official who has made no bones about the fact that he is using the Office of the District Attorney as a political stepping stone.
Nothing wrong with that, many D.A.'s do same.
But what happens to accused David Carrillo? What happens to the alleged victim?
The folks would like to know.

The Glenwood Springs 15-year-old is a finalist for Shred Ready's “The Search” contest. If he wins, he'd become a sponsored member of the Alabama helmet manufacturer's 2012 kayak team.
Kellogg, who has a background in video editing atop an affinity for outdoor sports of all kinds, submitted a short clip of himself performing tricks for the contest. His video won for the month of August, landing him a spot in the finals.
Finals voting is under way, and continues through Dec. 31 on Shred Ready's Facebook page.
A Shred Ready sponsorship would mean the world to Kellogg, whose dad, Dan, introduced him to the sport.
“It'd mean everything,” he said. “This is a huge contest. It'd be awesome if I could win this.”
Either way, making the finals is no pedestrian feat. “The Search” was open to any amateur kayaker or wakeboarder and began in May. Monthly winners made the finals cut, for which Kellogg submitted a second video.
“It's now posted on the Shred Ready Facebook page,” he said. “Whoever gets the most likes, gets sponsored....”

Heaven knows they really, really need a grocery store and a bank. But this coming out in the open after so many months tucked away working on bringing things up to speed down in Silt is curious.
Could it be that Dave has begun thinking about higher political aspirations?

It takes patience beyond measure.
One of SandBox Nanny's fav sayings, given to her long ago by an unlikely sage, is: "What I hear you saying..."
She thinks that once again, she is being left by John Stroud with no other choice than to leave the PI, The City of Glenwood Springs and our local tourism marketing efforts in the hands of the 'kids'.
What she will do for Mr. Stroud, on this article, is use the tool of an unlikely sage:
"What I hear you saying, is that it is way too difficult to simply grab the statistical data that breaks down both the city sales tax numbers (and) the lodging/accommodations tax numbers; and post them up in the only daily newspaper 81601 has. Because it is way too difficult to do that, you believe it best to continue to antagonize the folks who want to get down to the facts instead of the 'gild on the lily' as they are so fond of saying."
SandBox Nanny will add that she is very pleased to see the change in reporting that Mr. Stroud has made. More and more we see just the facts and that is sincerely appreciated.
Congratulations to the City of Glenwood Springs on what looks like on the surface, a cresting over the peak.
