SandBoxBlogs: Aspen Times "Change is in the air"

It's because of the 'Red Ant'.

Seriously.

That somewhat infamous 'Aspen Blogger' aka the 'Red Ant is the catalyst of the new dawn for conservatives in the Roaring Fork Valley.

A 'new age' where conservative commentary and opinion is not only freely and widely expressed but also receiving higher popularity rankings than any liberal talking head in the area.

Sparking tweets that zip around the world, fellow conservative bloggers and writers, conservative activism and those previously elusive conservatives in the closet coming out in full force through every available medium they can get their hands on.

There truly is strength in numbers and 'change is in the air'.

Maurice Emmer:
"Dear Editor:

Charlie Leonard claims that President Obama has no plan to fix Social Security and Medicare (“President's math doesn't add up,” Opinion, April 3, The Aspen Times). Why be so negative, Charlie? Who are you to question the smartest president in the history of this nation?

The president's plan is obvious. It is embodied in Obamacare. In a nutshell, the president's plan is that Obamacare will survive the challenge in the Supreme Court and wreck our health care system.....

......Where's your hope, Charlie? Change is coming.."  (Read more? Click title)

SandBoxBlogs: Aspen Times "Do the hydro math"

Has it occured to any "Aspenite" yet, that for all technical fact purposes, retired attorney Maurice Emmer is an "outsider"?

Just think.  Seriously.

That every view he has ever written, every blog he has created or contributed to, every organization he has joined, every time he has had (dare we say it in a 'family' forum??)  the cajones to walk in and sit down with the 9th Judicial District D.A. and query exactly 'why' law enforcement hasn't stepped in on some of the valley's abuses that are going on.....is an "outsiders" untainted view of the social, political and public interests plight here in the Roaring Fork Valley?

Hmmmmmmm....says, 'SandBox Nanny'.  Bit  of fodder for thought there.

SandBoxBlogs: Aspen Daily News "Mayor wants new development downtown capped at two stories"

Is Mayor Mick really 'just' a handful?  Or has he actually gone round the twist?

Curtis Wackerle:
"“If there aren’t as many guns, the puppies will be safer,” Ireland said, using a favored metaphor for when developers threaten existing community uses unless projects are approved.

Current rules basically mean council is forced to approve “stilts built under penthouses” that drive real estate speculation and crowd out uses such as moderately-priced restaurants and retail, Ireland said..."

SandBoxBlogs: The Red Ant "MICK'S ALL-OUT WAR ON "THE RICH""

From:  ISSUE #77: FlagrANT Foolishness
"He's gonna be a handful for the next 15 months, that's for sure. Lame duck mayor Mick is doggedly working through his "bucket list" of punitive restrictions to secure his legacy. Yes, as the clock ticks down on the term-limited career politician, he is on the brink of becoming an emotional wreck, desperately pushing massive spending projects and lashing out at those whose politics, fortunes and lifestyles differ from his own. His Nastiness is specifically on the warpath against those who desire private residential property in the downtown core.

At the February 27 council meeting, Mick went off on a typical diatribe, this time convincing no one (except for maybe the sycophants at the council table) that 3rd floor penthouse additions to (questionably) historic buildings DO NOT economically finance the redevelopment of the entire property. Yeah, right.  He promised to end such "undesirable behavior" by changing the land use code and  removing "the incentive for doing what you don't want done."  That is, what HE doesn't want done.

Sadly, it's likely to happen. Local architecture firms are working around the clock on re-development plans for downtown buildings whose owners want to get their plans approved before the likely draconian changes to the land use code occur in early April. Property owners, developers and realtors beware....."

SandBox Comments: Aspen Daily News "Confessions, lies, videotapes"

"What was I thinking back in 2008 fighting for video recording meetings of local governing bodies? I had considered that battle a success in dragging sunshine into local government meetings until last week when Grassroots and webcasts aired an abridged list of my transgressions against local government as imparted by Pitkin County commissioners Hatfield and Owsley.

Now my sins have been exposed to the entire world by our pious leaders, who denounce me as unworthy to serve on a volunteer board, despite 32 board vacancies. The context for my public trial as a heretic was the commissioners’ review of my application for a volunteer board..."

SandBox Comments: Aspen Daily News 'Ireland submits European road trip bill"

But....Mayor Mick supports almost anything.

Especially if whatever the cause is supports ink and photos.

Was he sent on this mission to Europe by the Aspenites?

No?  He just decided to find a write-off and look for a way to make it a partial work trip?

But.  All of this info he brought home is also found on Google.  And that's free.  From the comforts of City Hall.

huh.
