Especially if whatever the cause is supports ink and photos.

We have been saturated with housing inventory for a lot longer than just a year.
And yet there's always a new affordable development on the table that gets higher consideration by the powers that be than projects that would bring jobs and put stronger cash flow back into the community.
Such irony those same powers that be disregard the commons needs for the most basic of assistance programs and continually push the cost of living ceiling higher.
Not to mention there are few to no jobs except the ones paying less than a living wage.
By all means, Mayor Mick.
Let's just keep forcing every development to build "affordable" housing and pushing those out-of-reach, not needed projects like Burlingame.

We're not sure what marijuana based small business expects.
They bring years of complex work to our municipal leaders. Just to get the structure in place.
The only benefit they bring to state revenues is through sales tax. They bring nothing beneficial to our business friendly efforts because they cannot bank, they can't buy insurance, support businesses that are neighbors will not work with them because they can't afford to get caught up in the battle over legalities. They can't rent space and pump revenue into our commercial core.
And we haven't even started on the long list of social problems such as law enforcement and effects on our youth.
We repeat ourselves by saying that until the Feds and the State get the legalities worked out, there should be a complete stop, a moratorium on all marijuana based businesses.
We simply cannot financially carry these businesses any longer.

....It is far easier to say what is pleasing to the ear than what is true. Even so, anyone who thinks Republicans are stupid is missing the point. What those dummies Bush and Perry have in common, other than having been Texas governors, pilots and cheerleaders (what is it with Texas?), is that they're not stupid at all.
This doesn't mean they're right about everything or even most things. But they're smart enough to know that most people in this country didn't go to Ivy League colleges — or any college for that matter. Most haven't led privileged lives of any sort, but nonetheless have unspoiled hearts and are willing to help any who would help themselves.
This is the essence of the so-called ordinary American. Self-reliant, individualistic, entrepreneurial, neighborly and strong. These people come in both Republican and Democratic flavors, though we've somehow lost sight of that in these hyper-partisan, sound-bite times.
Until someone emerges to remind Americans of who they are in a way that neither insults their intelligence nor condescends to their less- fortunate circumstances, smart money goes to the “stupid” politicians, who are dumb as foxes and happy as clams when their opponents misunderestimate them...."

The Pueblo Chieftain and the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel are where one goes to take the political pulse of Colorado.
The Denver Post and The Colorado Independent, to most Coloradans, are more where you go to find out the spin, hyperbole, daily trash talk and have a good laugh when Colorado's political atmosphere is hot.
The old war horse Chieftain pegged this race for 10th Judicial District DA as one that would probably set in the record books as an all-out fight to the last vote.
Sure enough, it's shaping up to be exactly that.
And we still have over 13 months to go.

Finally, Chostner said a recent controversy in the murder trial of David Anthony Carrillo is emblematic of his criticism of how Thiebaut's office handles cases.
"Here's a case where he's not giving discovery in a timely manner," Chostner said. "That's the kind of mismanaging of cases I'm talking about."
Thiebaut's office has been accused by Carrillo's public defender of failing to disclose and possibly covering up a memo from a police detective that suggested a report by another officer at the crime scene was false.
Thiebaut maintains that there was no discovery violation. The memo was handed to Carrillo's defense team the day before a preliminary hearing and he continues to claim Public Defender Adam Schultz is trying to force a favorable plea deal for his client.
Thiebaut also claims there are ethical considerations about commenting on or trying to influence an ongoing case that Chostner, as an attorney, should know about.
Thiebaut laments that his office doesn't seem to be given the credit for high-profile victories in court, including a conviction of the so-called "Ether Man" — Robert Howard Bruce — for trying to kill a Pueblo police officer, and the conviction of Paul Wayne Stark for raping and killing 14-year-old Ashley Patterson of Pueblo West..."

"..Can you imagine if our illegal workforce were all die-hard skiers? That would be an awesome spectacle, and a quandary of sorts. Think of the massive festive crowd at the gondola on a powder day filled with people selling burritos, listening to Mexican radio. The town would come to a complete stop. It’s already bad enough getting a fresh line after 10:30 a.m. It seems like the mountains get chewed up more quickly now on a powder day. And not to mention one beginner snowboarder can do the same damage as four expert skiers to a field of freshies...
