SandBox Comments: Glenwood Springs Post Independent "Martin, Samson to seek re-election to Garfield County board"

Say YES to John Martin.

Say MAYBE to Mike Samson.  Time to wait and see if a viable conservative or independent steps up to race.

What GarCo voters really need to be focused on is getting a ballot measure together that increases our county representation to double what it is now. GarCo is one of the largest and most affluent counties in the state and is grossly under-represented.

"GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado — Garfield County commissioners John Martin of Glenwood Springs and Mike Samson of Rifle plan to seek re-election to the Board of County Commissioners in the fall.

The incumbent commissioners, both Republicans, confirmed their intentions Monday. The 2012 election process officially kicks off this evening with the statewide GOP caucuses.

Two of the three seats on the Garfield BOCC are up for election in November. All three seats are currently held by Republicans.

Martin, 63, will be seeking his fifth term on the county board. He represents Commissioner District 2, which includes the eastern and northern sections of Glenwood Springs, plus New Castle and Silt.

Samson, 57, the current District 3 commissioner, will be seeking his second term as county commissioner. District 3 includes the Rifle, Parachute and Battlement Mesa communities...."  (Read more?  Click title)

John will likely make another term. We need him and his experience. But this time, this voter is going to be pushing him hard to build a platform and not just run on his laurels. We haven't seen anything inspiring out of Martin for a long time and it's time now.
