SandBoxBlogs: Pueblo Chieftain "Man arrested with 3 1/2 kilos of coke "

(See related to post comment story here)

Gosh...wonder which source access he uses.  A Mexican drug cartel or Hezbollah?  Or (shudders...gasps...dare she say it?)  Americans?

"A  man was arrested Friday in possession of 3 1/2 kilograms of cocaine, police said.

Louis P. Figueroa, 32, was arrested after trying to hide from police on a roof in the 2200 block of East Evans Avenue.

The cocaine Figueroa reportedly had is worth more than $663,000, an affidavit by narcotic Detective Mark Bravo said.

Police on Friday had been surveilling Figueroa's home, located in the 2100 block of Wyoming Avenue, when they saw him leave with a brown duffle bag.

The affidavit said narcotic detectives were walking up to talk to him when he fled in a car, nearly hitting Detective John Guerrero, who responded by firing a shot at the car.

Patrol officers soon located Figueroa on Evans Avenue hiding on a roof.

Two houses down, police located the brown bag, which contained the bricks of coke.

The affidavit said police found $9,000 in cash in Figueroa's car and a 20-ton hydraulic press in his basement that is believed to be used in packaging kilos of cocaine.

Figueroa was being held in Pueblo County jail without bail pending a court appearance."

"Unapologetically pursuing and tracking patterns within the news others make since 2010."

Pueblo, Grand Junction, Denver. Some guy like this that has a press for god's sake is doing a lot more than just what he was caught with. Why is it, with seasonal Independence coming up from the Pueblo area and I-70 feeding the state east to west and I-25 north to south, that we have big money sitting in Aspen caring less where this stuff originates. Great comment, nanny.

A comment like yours sure puts the Aspen situation into perspective, nanny. If Pitco manager Jon Peacock doesn't care enough about the source of coke that gets into Aspen or has gotten there in the past that needs to be answered for now, what difference does it make to a Sheriff like DiSalvo and Braudis where it came from? This isn't about times changing and more powerful cartels with really bad associations. This investigation must be about Aspen and Pitco caring less about the details. If it's not, I'll have to run alongside Galvis's letters to the papers. We really are paradise doomed.

I may be wrong. The news reports on this bust going through the courts will report it eventually. This guy is probably an illegal. That we've been footing the bill for probably just about everywhere and now in the system. Big time system. Long time drawn out lawyers and courts. Plus ICE if he's illegal, then fed holding and then the cost to ship house him courtesy of the USA for a lot of years and then the cost to ship him home. Rehabilitated.

My point is still that until we put laws in place that enable ICE or some other FED to fine the country of origin for every oz of dope (big fines, make it hurt financially) we will never get the cooperation from other countries to end this madness. If we really wanted to make it stick, we'd fine their family too. Send the message that if you do this in our country, your family and your country will pay for it on one tier with you paying for it even bigger and not just with a free 3 squares and a roof over your head. Financially cripple the money that funds this stuff. Billions and billions of dollars in street value show up in the news every single day on busts and seizures. We bleed $$ out over it. Thanks to the cops Bravo and Guerro that busted this. At least he'll stay in Pueblo.

How does someone get out on bond when they have a "no bond hold"? Weird.... How much does that deal cost????

This guy is out on bond? What are they saying, human error and the no bond was overlooked? Happens but in a case like this it’s tragic if it’s true.

jbend said...

How can it be found out if that's true? Doesn't say anything in press anywhere online.

Say it isn't so that this guy slipped out on a human error under bond. Couldn't be rigged. Not even in Pueblo.

Oh trust me, this guy has a history of magic. I followed him on the pueblo county sherriffs website. He was out by Wednesday on bond. It's no mistery to me!

Tx. I'll take a look. A guy like this getting out on bond it's pretty clear he's not going to be hanging around. The press they found is the serious flag for me. Got to wonder.

anybody know what's going on with this guy and if he showed up for his first court date? or did they lose him?

I've seen nothing on him, jbend. Alerts still showing only the original article being spread around to other sites.

This dude is not an illegal alien just a scumbag who has sold drugs for about 15 years. He has the money to bond out anytime. True that what he was caught with was a fraction of the action. But when a dude has Ferraris and ****(redacted by blog administrator) like that with no job in Pueblo he's gonna eventually get caught up

Lou is out in the community, not running or hiding. He is not a flight risk, nor a scumbag, and has no prior arrests. Therefore he was released on bond, and is awaiting trial. People assuming he is an "illegal" are ignorant and racist. Just because a man has a hispanic name does not make him an illegal, the same as someone of italian or sicilian decent does not belong to the mafia simply because of their last name. He has retained good lawyers, and because of poor police work, and no prior arrests for drugs or violence, he will probably get a slap on the wrist of 5 years, out in 2 if that. The police officers who pursued him were only supposed to be following him and taking pictures but due to adrenaline and testosterone they saw a man they have been chasing for years walk out with a bag and they got jumpy, then actually fired shots blindly in a residential area, not very smart. They did not find any drugs on him, nor do they have an actual SALE of narcotics to anyone.
