SandBox Comments: Aspen Daily News "A few new ideas for jobs in America "

"President Obama is traveling the country seeking support for his latest jobs bill, and like some stoner Hawaiian high schooler jonesing for a hit off a joint, he’s telling Congress to pass it now.

With a price tag of nearly $500 billion, the American Jobs Act is a combination of tax cuts, incentives, unemployment reforms and spending that will hopefully do something to create jobs in our stagnant economy.

Unfortunately, the bill is a bundle of old ideas that have done little in the past to create jobs and I fear we will get little bang for our billions of bucks when it comes to this latest litany of ideas..."

SandBox Comments: Aspen Daily News "County rejects Marks’ bid for volunteer post"

In a stunning reveal of where the core divisiveness in Aspen lies; Commissioner Rachel Richards, Commissioner Jack Hatfield and Commissioner Michael Owsley drop the masks and show true personalities.

With vicious precision, this trio of commissioners assassinate the character of Marilyn Marks as she attempts to volunteer for a public board.

A very special appreciation goes to Commissioner Robb Ittner and Commissioner George Newman for representing the people rather than a personal, hate filled agenda.

Special thanks also goes to Marilyn Marks for her pro-active stance in holding the City of Aspen and the County of Pitkin accountable and up to transparency (albeit the only means to get those duties out of local government is forced means).

SandBox Comments: Con Games "Mexican Drug Cartels Crack Down on Social Media, Gruesomely"

"Perhaps taking a page from Middle Eastern despots clinging to power, Mexican drug cartels are cracking down on their critics on social networks. The bodies of a man and a woman were found hanging from a pedestrian bridge in Nuevo Laredo, a border town, and nearby signs indicated the pair had been killed for denouncing the cartels on social networks, Mariano Castillo reports for CNN. "This is going to happen to all of those posting funny things on the internet… You better (expletive) pay attention. I'm about to get you," one sign said. The victims had been tortured, Castillo writes:
A man and a woman, both in their early 20s, were left hanging like cuts of meat. The woman was hogtied and disemboweled, her intestines protruding from three deep cuts on her abdomen. She was then hung from the bridge by her feet and hands, topless. The bloodied man was suspended next to her by his hands, his right shoulder severed so deeply you can see the bone.."  (Con Games)
So, what happens to the folks now that this new tactic of fear is thought up by the powerful drug cartels that those alleged Aspen coke traffickers brought into our peaceful valley lives?

The folks crawl back deeper into the shadows and still all voices of praise and appreciation to the boots on the ground who are performing their duty while other sworn officials court the drug lords?

Since human life is at stake, and we have no Sheriff in Pitkin County and no federal agencies who can watch over us 24/7, maybe it is best for bloggers and followers to do as the drug cartel is telling them to do.
