SandBox Comments: Con Games "Mexican Drug Cartels Crack Down on Social Media, Gruesomely"

"Perhaps taking a page from Middle Eastern despots clinging to power, Mexican drug cartels are cracking down on their critics on social networks. The bodies of a man and a woman were found hanging from a pedestrian bridge in Nuevo Laredo, a border town, and nearby signs indicated the pair had been killed for denouncing the cartels on social networks, Mariano Castillo reports for CNN. "This is going to happen to all of those posting funny things on the internet… You better (expletive) pay attention. I'm about to get you," one sign said. The victims had been tortured, Castillo writes:
A man and a woman, both in their early 20s, were left hanging like cuts of meat. The woman was hogtied and disemboweled, her intestines protruding from three deep cuts on her abdomen. She was then hung from the bridge by her feet and hands, topless. The bloodied man was suspended next to her by his hands, his right shoulder severed so deeply you can see the bone.."  (Con Games)
So, what happens to the folks now that this new tactic of fear is thought up by the powerful drug cartels that those alleged Aspen coke traffickers brought into our peaceful valley lives?

The folks crawl back deeper into the shadows and still all voices of praise and appreciation to the boots on the ground who are performing their duty while other sworn officials court the drug lords?

Since human life is at stake, and we have no Sheriff in Pitkin County and no federal agencies who can watch over us 24/7, maybe it is best for bloggers and followers to do as the drug cartel is telling them to do.

And Commissioners Rachel Richards and Michael Owsley up in Pitco and Mayor Matt Steckler, Councilman Leo McKinney and Anita Sherman's gang don't believe any harm is done letting a few gang tied illegals with drug ties run loose in the valley or the geriatric drug pushers buy dope from LA cartels.

Yes, this is where those coke dollars flow to. Yes, this is where those taxpayer dollars that support those gang tied, drug tied illegals goes.

I have very dear, close friends on this blog and twitter that are vocal in their support of the busts, the heat and the pressure. A couple of them show up in searches of the avatar names and site holder domains. That means they're traceable and we know that.

So, I guess I'll run with Nanny's comment.

What advice do the boots on the turf and agents in charge and local cops we support give somebody like us and our blogs and tweets?

If it comes down to my choice and no advice is given, I'm going to come down on the side of making my friends go to ground on any drug related posting.

Since that LA cartel sold coke right up the road under Pitkin Sheriff nose for 15 years and that's less than 40 miles from Glenwood Springs, I wonder where Mayor Matt Steckler wants his citizens to "stay safe"?

Think running over to Eagle will do it?

I'd like to hear the answer to mack's question and get that answer from any cop who surfs this hub and that we've been supporting online for years. Exactly what are you doing to keep the folks out here safe from a new threat like this?
