"The financial future of the Larimer County Jail and potentially the county itself could be at stake in the Nov. 1 election.

Issue 1A on county ballots asks voters to consider repealing two 0.2 percent sales taxes and replacing them with a 0.375 percent tax to fund jail operations and other criminal justice programs...."

Guess this could be looked at as being grateful that here in Garco we have commissioners that make sure the taxpayers aren't dipped extra to cover the costs of the jail.

But that brings the question up of why not? Maybe that's the answer to the whole smell mess everytime Garco Sheriff brings a budget to the table.

Bet the opposition to everything Garco Sheriff would settle down if they were visibly paying the bills each time they bought something. Look at the differences in numbers between Larimer and Garfield.

Huge.

I understand your point, jbend.

However, I'm grateful Pitkin County as my residence and Garfield County where I have rental investments support both Sheriff's budgets and jails without increased sales taxes.
