"Last Thursday the Paonia Town Council decided they had no choice but to turn the case of their financial officer over to the district attorney for criminal prosecution. The town alleges that Kristin Chesnik made personal purchases with town funds.
A day earlier, in light of the allegations of misuse of public funds, Chesnik resigned from town staff.
The decision by council was made following an executive session during a special town council meeting on Jan. 26. Trustees cast a unanimous vote. Also attending the executive session was auditor Peter Blair...."
