SandBox Comments: Glenwood Springs Post Independent "Strawberry Days arrestee sentenced on local counts"

It feels very good to see Garfield County Sheriff's Dept. be given a little more of a level field from local reporters.

Maybe our local media would like to start mulling over the next positive to all step forward.

Like..maybe a sincere expression of appreciation for our county and city law enforcement, our ICE, TAG, TRIDENT and local DEA and FBI.

After all, that is something that the PI has rarely, if ever, done.

"Vallario has defended the operation, saying its mission was to identify known or possible gang members and prosecute them.

He said at the time of the arrests that anyone at the carnival who was wearing gang-related clothing, such as bandanas or certain sports jerseys, was approached and asked to remove them. In Centeno's case, authorities knew him to be a prior deportee with a history of gang involvement, and likely in the country illegally, Vallario said at the time...."

I see what you're trying to do nanny.

but it's their job. It's the PI's job to do it right. all these years of so over the top bad output and downright negligence in not reporting except their agenda or stroked advertisers and power is all just too much to walk away from.

for me, I need a complete 180. Not a half-baked token showing they can do their jobs right and hold up the high end of ethics in journalism.

until then, at least I can pick up a story in the PI and read it without losing my breakfast.

Pretty interesting to hear again the real story on Centano and how justified the bust was. I like this hearing for the first time from Lou that there were a lot of people asked to remove banger attire. Hey, what does that tell you? That there were bangers and it was a gang operation. They didn't go in looking to bust they went in looking to contain and prevent.

How good it's going to be to watch Ted fall flat on his lawsuit. Keep up the loud voices, folks so the spin and manipulation of the facts by CIRC and AJUA can't take hold. Give Garfield Sheriff a hand with standing up to Ted's lawsuit.

looking forward to hearing the end court result for Alvarez so we can find out the real facts.

Can't help but wonder if John Colson knew that the cops had been there asking a number of others to remove gang implied clothing and everyone but Centano and Alvarez were cooperating?

Can't help but wonder if Colson knew that before he ignited this flamer of a war with his first reports.

Thank you, Garfield County Sheriff Lou Vallario.

For telling us now, just the facts.
