Your lead story today says at the very end that our mayor claims the city attorney is confident that the city can successfully defend a suit challenging an ordinance that has not yet been drafted, let alone submitted to council, nor enacted into law. If this is a true report of the mayor’s view, it is amazing, as it requires clairvoyance and foresight of the precise language of a yet to be drafted ordinance, as well as the nature of the legal challenges and arguments that might be raised against it.
What a gift. Perhaps we can obtain from such a clairvoyant a prediction of how much the city will have to spend from scarce resources to defend the ordinance.."
