Kevin Hall:
"He promised to cut our deficit in half. Instead, President Obama has doubled it. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the 2012 deficit will surpass $1.2 trillion. Obama has added almost as much debt as the previous 43 presidents combined.
“We’ve now had four years in a row with a president that’s built trillion dollar deficits. It’s bad economics,” GOP challenger Mitt Romney said during a rally in Bettendorf on Wednesday. “It’s the wrong course for America, and I believe it’s immoral for us to pass on our burdens to the next generation.”
Romney was speaking to a crowd of more than 1200 at LeClaire Industries. Behind him on the stage were factory employees wearing shirts that said, “Government didn’t build my business, I did.” The shirts were a swipe at Obama’s infamous “You didn’t build that” comments. LeClaire Industries owner Bob Zimmerman took exception with the president’s statement.
“Mr. President, it isn’t the government that creates jobs. It’s the people. It’s businessmen and businesswomen. And if you really want to help small business, stop the regulations and get out of our way and let us go to work,” Zimmerman said to a standing ovation from the crowd...."

SandBoxBlogs: Glenwood Springs Post Independent "Obama can't make up his mind about the economy"
James Kellogg:
"There are plenty of headwinds right here at home, too. The president castigates congressional Republicans for blocking his potentially game-changing proposals to give tax breaks to businesses that hire and to provide mortgage refinancing for underwater homeowners. And in the last couple weeks, Obama proclaimed, “The big challenge we have in our economy right now is state and local government hiring has been going in the wrong direction.”
Here's a tip for the president. At this point, the majority of American voters don't care who is to blame for the current crisis. They are demanding solutions. Such solutions will be founded on free markets and private enterprise, not government control.
If Obama is intent on convincing Americans that he is powerless to foster the circumstances for economic recovery, why would we give him a second term?
The November election is looming closer, and voters are already waving goodbye to the president. Who will Obama blame for that? It'll be a tough decision......" (Read more? Click title)

SandBoxBlogs: Red State "The Overplayed Hand of an Amateur "
Erick Erickson:
"Someone pointed this out to me in email the other day. I believe it was either Neil Stevens or Dan McLaughlin. The point has been made by others as well.
Barack Obama and his campaign have overplayed their hand in one crucial aspect. They spent years getting their friends in the media to believe and sell them as the most experienced campaign team in the world. Look at the 2008 Primary. The Obama campaign would have you believe they beat Paul Begala and James Carville of Team Clinton. They may have beaten Team Hillary Clinton, but they did not beat Begala-Carville. You’d never know that from all the hype.
The reality is actually far different.
In 2000, Barack Obama tried to pick off Rep. Bobby Rush. He went down in flames in that Democratic Primary.
In 2004, Barack Obama beat Jack Ryan, but only did so after Ryan dropped out. Associates close to Obama were able to dribble out the sordid details of Ryan’s divorce and perversions. Alan Keyes stepped in to fully make a joke of the Illinois Republican Party.
2008, Barack Obama ran against John McCain, a man who suspended his campaign right at the height of election season to do something no one seemed to understand who seemed to covet the Republican nomination for vindication much more than he coveted actually winning the White House. The seat Obama had won in 2006 flipped back to Republican hands.
Between his election and now, Barack Obama had the House and Senate, did nothing to improve the economy, caved in to Republican demands, grandstanded at the Olympics meeting only to see Chicago lose out, campaigned for Democrats in Virgina, Massachusetts, New Jersey and elsewhere only to have them lose, and has routinely overplayed his hand in office.
T
hat is, in fact, Barack Obama’s true pattern behind the hype and myth. He overplays his hand and has his spin machine convince the Washingto Press Corps that it was all intentional and his campaign team are geniuses....." (Read more? Click title)

SandBoxBlogs: Novel Politics "Plot Twist? Will Obama dump Biden?"
MC Lewis:
"You may have heard the rumors over the past few weeks—the suggestions that Obama might replace Biden on the ticket, perhaps with Hillary Clinton. The recent gay marriage announcement seemed to put more distance between the President and Biden. Just before, the NYT ran a lengthy piece about Sunday night strategy sessions in the Obama campaign, sans Biden. Ominous signs for Biden.
If the President were 75 years old with a heart condition, the choice of Vice President would certainly be more of a consideration. Since Obama is relatively young and apparently healthy does anyone really care who his Vice President is?
The old pols will tell you that the choice of Vice President is seldom a consideration for most voters. Voters react to the choice for President.
Yes, but what if the election is really close?
And, if Obama’s slide in the polls continues, changing VPs could be a Hail Mary pass.
What if Biden makes a really big, unforgivable gaff?
Or, another new embarrassing revelation?...." (Read more? Click title)

SandBoxBlogs: Rasmussen Reports "What They Told Us: Reviewing Last Week’s Key Polls "
"Despite media fixation on the scream of the week, most Americans remain focused on the essentials, and their views on them are consistent over time, even if the Political Class continues to ignore them.
Take the auto bailouts. They’ve been unpopular since day one, and they’re still unpopular. Admittedly, thanks to the political spin out of Washington, the bailouts are a bit less unpopular because many Americans incorrectly believe the government made money or broke even on them. But when informed of the real price tag, opposition is just as high as ever.
The majority of Americans nationwide still believes General Motors should have gone through the regular bankruptcy process instead of the federal government taking over in exchange for bailout money.
But then President Obama recently suggested that government investment is what has made America great. Voters express a lot more confidence in the free enterprise system. In fact, just 27% agree that government investments made America great. By comparison, 69% think the free enterprise system deserves the credit...." (See more? Click title)

SandBoxBlogs: Right Scoop "ZoNation: Ted Nugent gets a visit from the Secret Service. So when will the Secret Service visit Eminem?"
I try to stay away from watching the worst of hate rhetoric in politics. All these news articles and videos, tweets and comments that are out there. The music videos, pundits..it just seems to never end and I can see nothing positive in any of it.
Once in awhile, when something happens that triggers a rash of violent speech, there arises out of the cess pool a story that helps, in my view, to get the point across that there is a serious imbalance out there in how the media reports factual content.
The Rush Limbaugh and Sandra Fluke contention was one such story.
Expertly stood up to by Rush and mirrored back to the left.
When one keeps a score card, just for the sake of verifying 'which side' is really the majority antagonizer; one finds the answer is the liberal side. Especially with the obstructions provided to them against the conservative side through the use of mainstream media.
Next up in the volatile content arena in the race to the White House 2012; is rocker Ted Nugent. An icon to those of us who graduated high school in the 1970's, Nugent has found himself once again in hot water because of his outspoken tendency to 'tell it like it is'.
Earning himself a visit from the Secret Service recently, the resulting outrage throughout the nation (actually turning global from the looks of things, Nugent is truly an icon) has finally wound up to the point that 'SandBox Nanny' has been waiting for.
"What about Eminem? When are the feds going to come down on the 'music-terror' pumped out by rocker Eminem?"
Sounds like the battle cry of conservative (and many liberal women as well) women over not receiving their 'phone call from the President' like Sandra Fluke received, doesn't it? From the looks of things out there at this time, Nugent's fans are doing as expert of a job as Rush and Newt have as they've taken on the biased media this election season.
You will need to click title on over to Scoop's site in order to watch the ZoNation video. I do not want it embed here on SandBox. It is troubling content but keen in its accurate perceptions.
A must watch.
Scoop:
"Ted Nugent, the Motor City Madman, engaged in hyperbole when discussing President Obama. Eminem and Common said some horrible things about President Bush. So why did the Nuge get a visit from the Secret Service, but not Eminem or Common? Hear what Zo thinks as he explains the double standard that allows liberals to engage in aggressive speech, but not conservatives....." (Read more? Click title)

SandBoxBlogs: The Foundry "Morning Bell: Buffett Rule 101"
(See related story reminder off Hot Air Blog: Buffet Rule aimed at only aprx 400 taxpayers)
Mike Brownfield:
"President Obama traveled to Florida yesterday to distract the nation from its real problems by laying out his case for the Buffett Rule, a plan to drastically raise taxes on successful Americans and small businesses. The core of his argument is that the rich aren’t paying their fair share. It makes for great populist rhetoric, especially when families are hurting and angry under today’s high unemployment, but the result is terrible policy. Worse, it’s a distraction from the big issues facing the nation, like the deficit, the economy, jobs, gas prices, health care, and on and on, none of which are addressed by the President’s proposals, and none of which he wants to talk about.
Will the President’s tax hike at least tackle the country’s fiscal problems? No, it won’t.
According to a recent analysis by the congressional Joint Committee on Taxation, the Buffett Rule would raise a mere $47 billion over ten years. Meanwhile, President Obama’s budget calls for adding $6.7 trillion to the national debt. That means that the Buffett Rule will only cover one half of one percent of the President’s new spending. Soaking the rich cannot get deficits down, only spending reductions can do that.
When it comes to the biggest problem America is facing — a weak economy and high unemployment — the Buffett Rule would weaken the economy and make matters worse. Heritage’s J.D. Foster and Curtis Dubay write that the tax would fall most heavily on job creators (who pay taxes at the individual rate) and confiscate their resources that would otherwise be used to start new businesses, grow existing businesses, and hire more workers. As a result, economic growth will slow down right along with job creation..."

SandBox Comments: Power Line "Obama’s Last Chance"
"Future historians are likely to look back on this week as the period Obama passed the point of no return for his presidency, and they may identify today, September 16, as the single most important day in his undoing. I wonder if Obama has any clue that his presidency is collapsing in real time? Dumb question: of course he doesn’t.
Yes, I was obviously playing around with my post earlier today on “Operation Chaos,” but then something deeply serious occurred here in Washington that I didn’t notice until the evening news: 36 Senators from both parties held a big press conference calling on the debt ceiling supercommittee to “go big” with sweeping pro-growth tax reform—one that would slash deductions and lower rates dramatically. In particular, I was struck by Oregon’s Sen. Ron Wyden, a smart liberal, who cited the 1986 Reagan-tax reform that he said created millions of jobs. He may not be correct strictly speaking about the job creation bit, but that misses the point:
"This press conference was not meant for the supercommittee. It was meant for Obama."

"President Obama is traveling the country seeking support for his latest jobs bill, and like some stoner Hawaiian high schooler jonesing for a hit off a joint, he’s telling Congress to pass it now.
With a price tag of nearly $500 billion, the American Jobs Act is a combination of tax cuts, incentives, unemployment reforms and spending that will hopefully do something to create jobs in our stagnant economy.
Unfortunately, the bill is a bundle of old ideas that have done little in the past to create jobs and I fear we will get little bang for our billions of bucks when it comes to this latest litany of ideas..."
