SandBox Comments: Glenwood Springs Post Independent "Child prostitution ring used Glenwood Springs hotel rooms"

SandBox will not be blocking public commentary on this horrific story that apparently happened right here in Glenwood Springs in some of our hotels.

Why Glenwood Springs?  What's the tie?

"DENVER, Colorado — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers released a grand jury indictment Monday charging four metro Denver residents with running a human-trafficking and child prostitution ring, and another 10 for assisting or patronizing the operation.

The suspects allegedly used hotel rooms in Glenwood Springs, as well as in Grand Junction, Denver, Boulder and Lakewood for “meet-ups” between clients and the child victims.

According to the 70-count indictment, Patrick Lloyd McGowan, 22, Chad Armand Gow, 20, Roy Manuel Ibarra-Gonzales, 20, and Bryan Steven Burns, 20, oversaw a human trafficking ring that involved prostitution of children and sale of methamphetamine and cocaine.

The four men are suspected of arranging “out calls” for their child victims through the Internet and coercing their victims through the use of drugs and threats of violence..."  (Read more?  Click title.)

What's mind-blowing is that it's even getting reported in the PI. Never in the history of CMNM ownership and Swift have they ever printed anything that shows badly on the tourism lions.

I'll bite on this. Take the heat off Nanny's comment.

Which hotels? Sure there must be some crime in Glenwood's hotels and lodges at some point but nothing like this. What is the tie and why did they pick Glenwood? Have a contact or source here that just turns a blind eye? How can the folks find out because for sure they need to know.

We can't put ourselves up as a family destination with our hotels and lodges plastered all over the world as credible with something like this going on. Who caught them it sounds like our own cops didn't even know. Where's council? Where's the district attorney? We've got, just in the last year, a major increase in truly serious crime. From dope cartels to gang to now this.

The fact that the post independent is reporting, for the first time in its history under Swift Communications something that's negative about the annointed tourism power boys speaks volumes.

Because this really is a major issue.

Need to give a little cred to Colson for finally running it. Took everyone else in the nation running a couple of stories on it ahead of him but he did finally get there in the local paper. The film is tonight. His report talks that these are not the first known incidents for child sex trafficking in Glenwood Springs and Carbondale. My question is still the same. Where's this supposed warrior D.A. we have here in 9th Judicial who has been talking big talk for his entire tenure about his war on sex crimes?

Maybe he needs to change wars in his illegal 3rd term in office (if he makes it)

Pick violent Mex drug cartels. Pick dope running through the back streets up and down the valley and corridor. Pick soft corruption in non-profits up and down the valley. Pick growing violent and crime aimed gang bangers.

Pick one. Pick something. Do something.
