Since passage of House Bill 1031 last year, the state has been encouraging communities to designate creative districts.
The district will benefit Salida by attracting creative entrepreneurs and artists, creating hubs of economic activity and showcasing artistic events.

Here's another creative district.
While Glenwood Springs sits on a lousy 1.7% 2011 increase, an imploding tourism promotion board and vendor and a city council that's still asleep at the wheel.
Downtown merchants have to be ready to stage an uprising soon. We wanna be Carbondale, Salida and Steamboat Springs.
