"Detective William Jones wants to say something to the community of Rifle.
“Thank you.”
Following a call to service that began in 1981, Jones has become a staple in countywide law enforcement, but most notably in the Rifle Police Department.
This week, he'll be turning over his office keys, retiring after 22 years on the Rifle beat.
Reflecting on a career of public service, first as a police officer and finally as a detective, Jones calls police work “a job, but really it's not just a job.”
Charged with working in a system that keeps both the ills and good of society running, Jones says he's been honored to have worked with the team of colleagues that defines Rifle's criminal justice task force.
“It's been an honor to serve this community,” he said. “Some of the finest I have ever known are here....”
