"SUMMIT COUNTY — Beaver Creek Ski Area last week got the final Forest Service OK for a several on-mountain projects that will help the resort prepare for the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships.
Improvements include:
- A new women’s downhill racecourse
- A women’s giant slalom racecourse using portions of existing ski trails on Grouse Mountain
- Modifications to the existing men’s downhill racecourse
- Replacement of Red Tail Camp and expanded finish area
- A new domestic water tank to supply the new Red Tail Camp facility and Beano’s Cabin
Forest Supervisor Scott Fitzwilliams said improvements will help showcase skiing on national forest lands and touted public collaboration in the review and decision-making process.
The project was designed to enhance and sustain Beaver Creek’s ability to provide a world-class venue for Alpine ski events. All activities are within Beaver Creek’s Forest Service-administered Special Use Permit boundary....." (Read more? Click title)
