SandBoxBlogs: Red State "Gasland’s Josh Fox Can’t Be Bothered with Facts "

"Save a gas rig.  Vote Sonja Linman (D) for Garfield County Commissioner."

The only truly balanced voice running for John Martin's seat.

She may be blue....but she will listen to you reds out there in Garfield County.

Steve Maley:
"Oscar®-nominated filmmaker Josh Fox, he of the burning water tap, loves to scare people with the provocative word “fracking” and misleading images and claims of its potential to damage the environment, specifically groundwater.

To wit, this screenshot of a cute little animated .gif at Fox’s website gaslandthemovie.com.

It clearly depicts fractures from a horizontal gas well invading a freshwater aquifer. Scary! Now, consider the detail of that portion of the cartoon which depicts the fractures extending vertically up into the shallow water-bearing zone:....."

SandBoxBlogs: CBS News "4 sophisticated drug tunnels found on border"

"(AP) TIJUANA, Mexico - Four drug smuggling tunnels equipped with lighting and ventilation — including one with a railcar system — have been discovered along the U.S.-Mexico border in less than a week, the latest signs that cartels are building sophisticated passages to escape heightened detection above ground.

Three of the tunnels were incomplete, including one that the Mexican army found in a Tijuana warehouse Thursday with more than 40 tons of marijuana at the entry. The passage extended nearly 400 yards, including more than 100 yards into the United States....."

SandBox Comments: @USMCZen "Photography, and driving a truck..what a life"

Meet U.S. Marine Kevin McIntyre.

The first thing 'SandBox Nanny' wants to do this morning is thank Kevin for his service.  You and all our military and everyday law enforcement are so appreciated.  Thank you.

Next up on her agenda this morning is to reach out to Kevin Mac and give him a boost with his new venture.  Which is, letting others take a look at him through their own lens.  Kevin Mac has a very zen view of the world, if these stunning photos he has taken are any indication of what the man is inside.  From his Twitter profile (which is how we found him (or) he found us in mutual following) he looks like one of our American heroes out there burning up the road in a truck to keep every body's day-to-day lives rolling smooth.

To look at him through his photos (sample can be seen by clicking title) 'SandBox Nanny' concludes that '@usmczen' is an enigma.

All credit, all copyright is given to Kevin McIntyre who, for now until he hopefully gets further along on his website, can be found for photo purchasing @usmczen

SandBox Comments: The Atlantic "How the Hashtag Became a Campaign Battleground"

Ah, yes.

Welcome to the world of 'hashtags'.

You know you've 'arrived' in the world of Twitter when you have at least one (sandboxblogs has 8 nearly exclusive to us that are used by tweeters daily....hooray for us!).

"One of the most contested battles in the online political arena in recent weeks was a fight over Obama's new push to make policy by executive order -- and which ideological camp could best define the hashtag that described it.

"We can't wait," proclaimed the president on Monday, Oct. 24, announcing that in the absence of congressional action on his jobs plan, he'd be advancing orders on mortgages, school loans, opportunities for veterans, and more.

Republicans had a field day. "#WeCantWait to make @BarackObama a one-term president," tweeted Republican National Committee chair Reince Priebus that day. A flurry of tweets followed. By Tuesday afternoon, the White House, which, notably, initially hadn't bothered making use of the tweet-friendly mantra as a hashtag, made an attempt to reclaim it. Tweeted the White House: "#WeCantWait for today's Office Hours" -- a reference to an online chat with economic advisor Brian Deese on Obama's new initiative. Minority Leader Pelosi tried her own spin. "#WeCantWait for GOP to stop blocking #AmericanJobsAct & #ChinaCurrency jobs bill," she tweeted, adding a kick at the end: "PS to GOP: #HashtagsArentAJobsBill." Oh, snap...."
