SandBoxBlogs: Town Hall "Obama gets a Keystone Mulligan"

(See related story and public comments here)

Bob Beauprez:
"Barack Obama is going to get another shot at getting the decision of the Keystone XL Pipeline right.  The Canadian company, TransCanada, seeking to build the massive delivery system that would transport 800,000 barrels of oil from the Canadian tar sands to Texas refineries announced it is resubmitting an application for permitting approval.

Obama killed the jobs creating, energy supplying proposal in January to appease his radical environmental constituency that opposes anything connected with the hydrocarbon industry.  Criticism of his blatantly political decision came from all corners of the spectrum including the President's usually loyal labor unions who coveted the employment opportunities the pipeline would generate....."

SandBoxBlogs: Town Hall "Obama Headed For Defeat in Pipeline Fight"

Byron York:
"To hear the White House tell it, Barack Obama might be the most pipeline-friendly president ever to occupy the Oval Office.

In advance of Obama's March 22 visit to Cushing, Okla, the White House released a fact sheet detailing the president's support for oil pipeline projects. "The need for pipeline infrastructure is urgent, because rising American oil production is outpacing the capacity of pipelines to deliver oil to refineries," the White House wrote. "It is critical that we make pipeline infrastructure a top priority."

When the president appeared in Cushing, White House image-makers positioned him in front of huge stockpiles of pipe -- tons and tons of pipe. Message: Obama loves pipelines. "Under my administration," the president said, "we've added enough new oil and gas pipeline to encircle the Earth and then some."

But Obama wasn't in Cushing because he has approved so much new pipeline. He was there because he is facing bipartisan opposition, in Congress and across the country, for blocking the proposed Keystone XL pipeline that would bring about 700,000 barrels of oil from Canada to refineries in Texas every day, creating thousands of new jobs in the process. The opposition appears to be growing, and there's good reason to believe Obama will be forced to reverse himself in the next few months.

A new Gallup poll shows that 57 percent of Americans say the government should approve building Keystone. That number includes 81 percent of Republicans, 51 percent of independents and 44 percent (a plurality) of Democrats. The only good news for the White House is that most Americans aren't following the issue very closely, at least not yet...."  (Read more?  Click title)

SandBox Comments: Town Hall "The GOP Can Add 10 Million Jobs and $15 Trillion to US Economy without Spending a Dime"

John Ransom:
"There are many contrasts that the GOP can use to go after Obama on the economy.

None present such a black and white contrast as the dispute about the black, tar-sands crude that Canada would like to ship through the US to refineries on the Gulf via the Keystone XL pipeline. The dispute isn't about the environment, is about creating 10 million U.S. jobs.

The State Department gave preliminary approval to build the Keystone pipeline late last summer, saying that it posed no significant environmental risks. But like a lot of things with this administration, it was a case of the left hand not knowing what the left-wing was doing.

Instead of allowing the project to go through, along with the hundreds of thousands of jobs it would create, Obama sided with whack-job environmentalists who raised bogus fears that oil spills could pollute the aquifer that lies underneath its path.

Ok, he only apparently sided with them....." (Read more?  Click title)

SandBox Comments: Intellectual Conservative "More on the Great Green Energy Bust"

Terrific article from Gary Jason.  Somewhere out there on 'Intellectual Conservative'.  A blog that sees its fair share of lawyers with pens.

Love the way he closes off this piece:  "This is what comes of having an economically illiterate and morally corrupt affirmative action lawyer/community organizer take over energy policy." (Gary Jason)

lol.

Every day, here in America more and more voices are raised in protest.

just sayin...

"Keystone would have created 20,000 high paying jobs–in the Regime’s terms, shovel ready jobs–compared to the risible 1,100 jobs Solyndra brought–and only temporarily at that!

More articles are reporting the Great Green Energy Bubble Bust, that is, the collapse of the dream of replacing fossil fuels by such sources as solar power, wind power, and bio-fuels.

The first reports that the Labor Department has announced that all of Solyndra’s 1,100 former employees are eligible now for federal aid such as “income assistance” and job retraining. These goodies are going to cost the U.S. Taxpayer about $13,000 per person (for a total of $14.3 million).

This is on top of the $528 million that this failed solar company will cost the taxpayer because of the sweetheart deal the Regime’s Department of Energy (DOE) gave the company, one primarily owned by a billionaire (George Kaiser) who had contributed heavily to Obama’s election campaign...."
