SandBoxBlogs: Aspen Times "Change is in the air"

It's because of the 'Red Ant'.

Seriously.

That somewhat infamous 'Aspen Blogger' aka the 'Red Ant is the catalyst of the new dawn for conservatives in the Roaring Fork Valley.

A 'new age' where conservative commentary and opinion is not only freely and widely expressed but also receiving higher popularity rankings than any liberal talking head in the area.

Sparking tweets that zip around the world, fellow conservative bloggers and writers, conservative activism and those previously elusive conservatives in the closet coming out in full force through every available medium they can get their hands on.

There truly is strength in numbers and 'change is in the air'.

Maurice Emmer:
"Dear Editor:

Charlie Leonard claims that President Obama has no plan to fix Social Security and Medicare (“President's math doesn't add up,” Opinion, April 3, The Aspen Times). Why be so negative, Charlie? Who are you to question the smartest president in the history of this nation?

The president's plan is obvious. It is embodied in Obamacare. In a nutshell, the president's plan is that Obamacare will survive the challenge in the Supreme Court and wreck our health care system.....

......Where's your hope, Charlie? Change is coming.."  (Read more? Click title)

SandBox Comments: Town Hall "Where have all the liberals gone?"

John C. Goodman:

"There are two conservatives for every liberal in America. That's the message of a recent David Brooks column as well as a Gallup survey. I think the imbalance is much starker. I would guess there are four conservatives for every liberal. Maybe even more.

Here's a test I invite you to take. Watch C-Span's morning call-in show and listen to what people who phone in on the "Democrat" or "liberal" line have to say. When is the last time you heard a caller say, "We should all pay higher taxes so that the government can provide us with universal day care"? Or how about, "We should all pay higher taxes so the government can provide us with universal long term care"?  I bet you can't remember ever hearing that.

Here is what I suspect you will hear: Teachers complaining that teachers aren't paid enough.
Union members complaining about competition from workers overseas. Senior citizens whining about the meagerness of Social Security or Medicare benefits. Minority callers advocating more affirmative action.

And what is the common denominator of these comments? Self-interest."

SandBox Comments: Aspen Times/Charlie Leonard "Charlie Leonard: Obama tries to fool the voters — once again"

Charlie Leonard:

"...If you listen, it's clear Barack Obama has abandoned the mantra of hope and change — and the personal responsibility he spoke of so eloquently just three years ago. When the president speaks about “fairness,” it's all one-sided, as if none of us outside the ranks of top corporations played any part in the housing boom and bust. Seriously? All of the speculation on credit was the fault of greedy bankers? Were we all that stupid, or maybe, just maybe, were we all just a little culpable?

When the president speaks of the economic challenges of the middle class, it's entirely the result of selfish businesses that “play by their own rules.”

The truth is that globalization and technology have forever altered the ability of low-skilled workers in the United States to demand the wages and benefits they received when our economy depended on a domestic manufacturing base..."
