SandBoxBlogs: Glenwood Springs Post Independent "Compressor station plan causes uproar"

(See related stories and public commentary here)

John Colson:
"....Marianne Quigley Ackerman, whose father was another of of the ranchers who donated land for the college campus, said as much in a letter to neighbors that she provided to the Post Independent.

“The project is being ‘fast tracked' through our county process because, according to SourceGas, it has been budgeted this year and has to be built this year or [it] will lose funding,” Ackerman wrote.

Ackerman called that a “very weak excuse for a zoning change of this caliber with long reaching negative affects.”...."  (Read more?  Click title)

"Unapologetically pursuing and tracking patterns within the news others make since 2010."

Such hypocrisy from Ackerman.

Doesn't she realize yet that the "Don't mess with the Mariannes" era in Glenwood Springs was over ages ago? And for some never really existed and has been a standing joke for years?

CMC is doing the right thing and the best thing by putting this compressor station that is coming no matter what, in their backyard and not ours.

Get off your ego and step up to the new reality that you do not control the BOCC or City Council, Marianne.

Thank you to the CMC Trustees for doing the right thing on this compressor station.

for sure that cronyism can be a real bitter pill to swallow when it backfires, Marianne. begs the question of why get so upset when your crony newspaper doesn't make you aware in advance of goings on at BOCC when it's something you don't want and when it's something like Beckley and his expansion you stroke the backs of a chamber vendor board and don't say a word.

We elect CMC trustees and the ones we've got are doing a good job.

This should not be in the hands of BOCC and the only reason it is is because of Ackerman and Nieslanik throwing their weight around. I don't see these kids as being in any different spot than AJUA. Only difference is that AJUA's first stop is a question of crime adn goes in front of our chiefs. These CMC kids have a first stop of authority too and that is the CMC trustees. Get real, Jim. You've had plans in hand since 2011 and we all know you know enough to be able to read those plans and ask questions of Source. Who knows and who really cares what's up with Ackerman? This is obvious nothing more than another way for her to prance in a spotlight. Give it straight back to CMC board of trustees is the only answer BOCC needs to give. Everything about this has been an insult to them and to the college. First a shame letter and a lot of hot air gossip around town and then stepping around them and telling on them to the BOCC. It's sounding more like the halls of high school than a legit complaint. Let the trustees do their job and move on.

Wholehearted agreement. What in the world are Nieslanik and Ackerman doing by ripping this out of our CMC Trustee hands as if they were a bunch of incompetents? There isn't anything further from the truth and we have one of the best trustee groups we've ever had. What is this? Run and tell teacher? For goodness sake, Jim and Marianne. Grow up.
