SandBoxBlogs: Kidderminster Shuttle "Son of murder accused harassed by internet stranger"

  • (Read the heart of the problem in this current story posted today and related stories with public commentary here and here.)
Today's story out of the UK is one that 'SandBox Nanny' was unaware of until the 'Google Alert' popped up in her inbox this morning.

I am not sure whether to feel outrage, just anger or hopeless sadness on behalf of Marcus Bebb-Jones' family, including his son with Sabrina Bebb-Jones,  Daniel.

Judge Petre's gag, if there is not one, should be placed immediately on everything to do with Bebb-Jones.   If only for the sake of the family but more rightly for the sake of a fair trial on both sides of the table.

That action would be like a sparrow trying to travel a hurricane, thanks to the viral linking, baiting and press releasing done for (obviously) years now to both sides of the justice table.

But, it would at least be an effort on the part of the 9th Judicial District to gain control for both sides of Sabrina Bebb-Jones' family.

With that said, if the only thing that can be done for the sake of everyone, but especially Daniel Bebb-Jones as he watches himself  and his father he loves once again  viral blasted all over the internet, is to block comment ability on this one post, then that is now so.

  • Note disclaimer here: "Now that DA Beeson has thrown his hat in the ring for district attorney in the 9th, please take note that there will be no special treatment given to any news press surrounding his race. His articles, if they are SandBox worthy or chosen in the daily agg run-up; will be put up just like anyone else in a political race. What SandBox Commentators will continue to do, is heavily moderate his articles. Jennifer Meierhans:
"THE teenage son of a Kidderminster man awaiting trial for murder in America suffered years of internet torture at the hands of an obsessive stranger, who called himself the Crime Doctor.

Daniel Bebb-Jones, 18, watched at Kidderminster Magistrates Court today, as Peter Gordon, 28, of East Lothian, admitted harassment through anonymous emails.

Daniel’s father, Marcus Bebb-Jones, 49, is currently in Colorado, charged with the murder of his wife - Daniel’s mother, Sabrina Bebb-Jones.

Daniel was brought up in Kidderminster by his grandmother, from the age of three and was told his mother had died in a car crash.

Between 2008 and 2011, Daniel received 27 emails with titles including “Your dad is a scumbag”, “Murder accused could face death penalty” and “Marcus beaten to a pulp in jail”. They were sent under names such as George Orwell and the Crime Doctor.

Daniel, who was just 14 when the offences began, also received emails from his father’s address, seemingly admitting to and apologising for his mother’s murder. Gordon admitted hacking into Marcus Bebb-Jones’ email account and writing the messages. Magistrates saw a sample of the emails, some of which used sexually graphic and offensive language.

“I was shocked and upset - I didn’t believe it,” said Daniel in a statement read by Claire Linehan prosecuting. He said he felt he could not get away from the harassment and withdrew from social networking and internet activity.

“He is the scumbag - not my dad,” he added, “He is the one causing all the misery and upset and I hate him for it.”

A statement from Daniel’s grandmother, Pamela Weaver, detailed the emotional and physical stress the harassment had caused her: “How dare he be the judge, jury and executioner,” she said.

Defending, Mike Rainford said Gordon befriended Marcus Bebb-Jones on the internet. “It is quite clear that Mr Gordon looked upon him as some sort of mentor, some sort of father figure and opened up to him over a period of time,” he said, as his client burst into tears.

“It later came to Peter’s attention that there was an investigation under way by US authorities in relation to Marcus Bebb-Jones...according to his mother [Gordon] is obsessed with ‘the truth’ and took it upon himself, quite wrongly, to send emails to Daniel.....”

Disclaimer #2:  During the London visits of GarCo Sheriff and 9th Judicial in 2010 and 2011, this blog was the target of malicious attacks on us, GarCo Sheriff, Marcus Bebb-Jones.  A few of those attackers are known as individuals who had an agenda to attempt to sway local judicial cases and were turned to authorities. Please note that this post and all posts on Bebb-Jones are heavily moderated by SandBox with the end result being that if any of those individuals show up again on one of our sites, you will be turned over to the same authorities as you were in the past.

Lee Sorrell:
"...Colorado District Attorney Martin Beeson told the Daily Star Sunday: “The purpose of a preliminary hearing is to demonstrate to the court that there is sufficient evidence to bind the case over for trial.

“Assuming the judge binds the case over for trial it must be held within 180 days of the defendant entering his plea.

“He has not yet been required to enter a plea but will probably be required to do so soon after the prelim is completed.”

According to court documents, on September 16, 1997, Bebb-Jones and wife Sabrina rowed about his flirting with guests staying at their Melrose Hotel in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Bebb-Jones is then alleged to have told investigators the couple went off to the nearby Dinosaur National Monument but had another argument and she fled.

She was reported missing by a hotel worker two days later.

By then Bebb-Jones had headed to Las Vegas with his three-year- old son.

Prosecutors claim he lived the high life in the party city, booking into various hotels, borrowing money at casinos and putting more than £3,500 on his credit card in a matter of days.

He is alleged to have told a friend he had rented a Ferrari and hired prostitutes as he wanted to “go out in style”.

The prosecution claim that at the end of his bender he booked himself another hotel, put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger but survived...."  (Read more?  Click title)

SandBox Comments: Glenwood Springs Post Independent "Bebb-Jones preliminary hearing continued"

Update May 1, 2012:

Interesting to note that it is actually John Colson, here on the Glenwood Springs Post Independent, who curbs the impulse to inflame and weave threads of 'a story' on the Bebb-Jones hearing.

And one of our most (still is) respected reporters on the Western Slope, Dennis Webb, is the one who surprisingly weaves a tale surrounding the hearing  albeit likely that he's doing so verbatim.

From both reporters, the sounds of things leans toward plenty of story weaving to go around yesterday in the courtroom.

So, Colson gets the nod from the local avatar community and our thanks for keeping a balanced tone with factual rather than inflaming content on this story.

SandBox Comments: KJCT News 8 "Parachute Pair Faces Charges in Montana"

Though nothing can be greater than the tragedy for the Arnold family, these cases have more victims on the sidelines.

Our local judge who obeyed law and also trusted what was told in court and let him cross state lines.  Our law enforcement spanning multiple states who cannot find the assumed deceased.  When discretion is found to be human in nature and not infallible, there are times when the tragedy that results touches many lives.

These are the types of cases that haunt until they are resolved. 'SandBox Nanny' hopes that the hearts and minds of all the victims can start moving toward resolution.

We'll watch for the information Don Coleman implies in his report today.  Over on KJCT.

"...The judge in this case set bail at $2.5 million for each of the suspects. Both will appear again in court later this month and if convicted of the charges could face the death penalty.

While the justice system runs its course, the Montana community continues to mourn the loss of Arnold. The popular high school math teacher's birthday was Monday and she would have been 44, according to KTVQ.

Despite the charges, there is still a large mystery surrounding why Waters Jr. and Spell are accused in this case. Prosecutors, however, plan to announce why in the coming weeks...."  (Read more?  Click title)

(Read more?  Click title. Comment to discuss)

via Vail Daily:

"BOULDER, Colorado — The muzzle of the gun that killed Todd Walker was between 5 and 6 feet away from him when it was fired, a Colorado Bureau of Investigation firearms expert testified Friday at the murder trial of Kevin McGregor.

The information is significant because McGregor disputes the story told by Elizabeth Roach, Walker's friend, that he tried to rob her at gunpoint and shot Walker when he intervened...."

SandBox Comments: Denver 9 News "Slain federal agent was getting dad's cancer meds"

"NEW YORK (AP) - An off-duty federal law enforcement agent who died while confronting a pharmacy robber was picking up his elderly father's cancer medication, a New York congressman said Sunday.

Veteran agent John Capano had chased down the suspect inside the store and was trying to subdue him on the ground when he died, said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y. The robber, who was also shot to death, was identified Sunday by police as 43-year-old James McGoey of Hampton Bays.

"John was with him on the ground wrestling," said King, who has spoken with local authorities and Capano's family. "Next thing you know, shots are fired."

McGoey went into Charlie's Family Pharmacy in Seaford, a small shorefront Long Island town, at about 2 p.m. on New Year's Eve, police said. He announced a holdup and was given what he came for: painkillers and money.

Capano, a trained explosives expert who had served in Iraq and Afghanistan, confronted McGoey as he tried to leave the store. Meanwhile, an off-duty NYPD officer and a retired Nassau County police officer who happened to be at a deli next door were alerted that someone was trying to rob the pharmacy, King said.

"This is a horrible confluence of events," King said. "They both hear this guy saying there's a robbery going on. They get their guns, they go next door."

It's not clear who shot either man. Capano, 51, died of a gunshot wound at a hospital. He was a 23-year veteran of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives who taught U.S. military and local forces in Afghanistan and Iraq how to investigate blasts, said Rory O'Connor, assistant special agent in charge in the ATF's New York office...."
